Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) Directive
RoHS is an European directive imposing restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. It is meant to reduce health and environmental risks by restricting the use of listed substances in electronic components. Unless an exception applies, the concentration thresholds should not be exceeded for the following:
Cd | < 100 ppm | <0.01% |
Cr6+ | <1000 ppm | <0.1% |
Hg | <100 ppm | <0.01% |
Pb | <1000 ppm | <0.1% |
PBDEs | <1000 ppm | <0.1% |
PBBs | <1000 ppm | <0.1% |
These thresholds apply to any homogenous materials or component that cannot be mechanically disjointed such as wires, plastics, solders, or alloys.
